The Maroon bellied is primarily green, with a reddish color to the belly area (hence the name). Around the neck is a light brown-goldish set of feathers. The Pyrrhura family can be distinguished from the Aritanga by the light-tipped feathers around the neck.
10" (about the size of a cockatiel)
Undeterminable by appearance.
Southeastern Brazil, Uruguay, Paraguay, and northern Argentina.
The Maroon Belly is a playful bird, and is very trainable.
The Maroon Belly can be loud, but nowhere near as loud as their Aritanga counterparts.
